“When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on.”

– Carl Rogers

Our Work Together

At the heart of psychotherapy is the self-understanding that arises from the experience of being deeply seen. So often, what we most long for is not advice or solutions, but a space where our inner world is held with presence, curiosity, and care.

Like my work as a naturopathic doctor, my approach to psychotherapy is holistic, utilizing the BioPsychoSocial Framework. My work prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and draws on a variety of tools and theories, including Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Humanistic and Existentialist Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, to name a few.

Our work together might include:

  • Exploring past experiences and how they shape present-day thoughts, feelings, and relationships

  • Making sense of difficult emotions, including those that feel conflicting or hard to name

  • Working with relational dynamics—how you connect, protect, distance, or long for closeness

  • Bringing compassion to internal conflicts or critical parts of yourself

  • Noticing what arises in the room as a mirror for what happens in your life

  • Gently expanding your capacity to feel, reflect, and relate through nervous system awareness and stabilization

Healing Happens in Relationship

The therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful container for healing. It offers a space to experience new ways of being with yourself and others. What happens within you and between you and others when you can be fully yourself? I offer a trauma-informed space of unconditional positive regard and non-judgment.

Looking Beneath the Surface

Symptoms like anxiety, low mood, or chronic self-doubt often have deeper roots. Once we have established a place of safety, through gentle inquiry, we dive below the surface of everyday symptoms and explore to gain deeper insight into our past, our unconscious experience, and the ways we have learned to cope.

Supporting Your Agency

You are not alone in this process. I bring clinical skill, but also genuine presence and care. However, you are in control of the relationship and your therapy process including how often we meet, what we talk about, as well as how I can help you with your goals. I aim to meet you where you are, while gently inviting deeper reflection, emotional risk-taking, and self-compassion.

Solution Focus and Skill-Building

Therapy is not just talking. Through therapy we are aiming at gaining deeper insight, healing through relationship but also learning valuable skills and tools for self-care and coping with our problems of living. I weave in a skill-building, cognitive reframing, and a Solution-Focused approach where appropriate.

Why I Became a Psychotherapist

As a naturopathic doctor, I’ve always been drawn to the stories behind the symptoms. Over time, I started to notice how often physical concerns—like fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, or chronic pain—were tied to stress, grief, trauma, or longstanding patterns of shame and disconnection. I could support people with their physiology, but I also sensed there was more that wanted to be seen, named, and held.

In the spirit of a truly holistic person-centred practice, I started to incorporate tools like Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Narrative Therapy into my work.

Training as a psychotherapist felt like a natural evolution of my practice. It gave me new tools and language to explore the emotional layers that often underlie physical health. It also deepened the therapeutic relationship allowing us to slow down, listen more fully, and create space for what doesn’t always get expressed in day-to-day life. Further, when we were sitting with and making space to process trauma, I started to see a massive shift in physical symptoms and overall health and wellness.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Are you covered by benefits?

Most benefit plans cover registered Psychotherapy. Check with your provider.

Do you practice online or in-person?

I currently only offer online appointments using the secure Telemedicine platform, Jane.

I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). This allows us to work together anywhere in Ontario from the comfort of your home.

Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person care.

Are you still practicing naturopathic medicine?

I am still practicing naturopathic medicine. You don’t need to be a naturopathic patient to see me as a psychotherapist, or vice versa. And you don’t need to receive naturopathic medicine or see me as a naturopathic doctor if you decide to work with me in therapy.

I conduct two different practices under separate licences, but often work with individuals under both umbrellas, to expand my standard and scope of care.

My naturopathic approach is more directive (involving lab tests, treatment plans and supplement recommendations), while my psychotherapy practice is more exploratory–the two can complement one another nicely, creating a comprehensive care umbrella.
