Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending my second Toronto Poetry Slam at the The Drake Hotel on Queen West West.

12 poets went head-to-head in a spoken word competition.  This weekend were the semi-finals (the finals are on April 20th at The Royal).  The feature poet, Christian Drake, performed before half-time.  He gave quite a performance, reciting some well-known poems, often covered by other poets, such as “Bloodbath”, “Tatiana” and his famous “Tarzan poem”.

Here is a sample of what he has to offer.  This poem reminds me of naturopathic medicine because it highlights the fact that  “Our own bodies have extraordinary powers that only seem ordinary because they are common to us all.”
