Study-Buddy Blueberry Lemon Olive Oil Muffins

Muffins are exactly what I’ve been needing lately: soft, tender, sweet and loving, these pillow-y treats, with their oatmeal and chia seed content, are full of fibre and lemony-blueberry flavour. These babies are the perfect antidote to the long, dreary days spent in the library as my classmates and I head for the final stretch of the semester. Eat ’em up, we’re almost there!

Paleo Bread Recipe

Just for the record, I don’t follow the Paleolithic diet, nor any diet for that matter. Not to a T, anyways.  I enjoy eating legumes, I consume whole grains such as brown rice and quinoa, and I also enjoy eating root vegetables, most of which are eschewed on the Paleolithic, or primitive, diet.  I know that many people feel great on the paleo diet, but at this stage in the game that is my personal health journey, it’s not for me.  Maybe one day it will be, but not today.

For the next three weeks I’m house-sitting at my parents’, 1.5 hours away from the school.  Not only are classes at CCNM long and tiresome, my commute time has also increased.  I also have the added stress of having a small dog waiting for me when I get home.  This makes finding the time to prepare something healthy to eat at night a challenge.

It´s been a while since I´ve talked about food on this blog, which is a shame, since this blog is about naturopathic medicine and, as Hippocrates said, “let food be thy medicine.”  Any naturopathic doctor will tell you that a great diet is the key to health, happiness and longevity.  I´ve just gotten back from my fourth trip to Colombia and have decided to reflect on my most recent experience with Colombian cuisine.

6 Uses for Castor Oil

At a teacher training I recently attended, we were given the task of deciding what we would take with us if we were to go to a deserted island.  While other people chose things like hatchets, food, water (and a boat), I automatically thought: castor oil!  Sometimes I forget that the rest of the world isn’t living under the naturopathic bubble.
